Charis Rousou obtained her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the
University of Cyprus (Cyprus) with her master thesis focusing on the imaging
applications of ultrasound microbubbles for the evaluation of perfusion in breast tumors. Since 2017 she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Pharmaceutics, Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences (Utrecht, Netherlands). Her doctoral studies are focusing on the mechanical effects of ultrasound microbubbles in ocular drug delivery applications. More specifically, she is investigating the ultrasound- mediated increase of blood retinal barrier permeability aiming to improve the penetration of therapeutic molecules from blood circulation to the retina.
